Letter

Lita Faye, President and owner of Fairy Fare, was struck by the devastation of Hurricane Katrina to the newly-established Hill School kindergarten classroom. She sent the Fairies of Caerwyn to the kindergarten teacher, Heidi Anne Porter, as a gift for Christmas 2006. Heidi replied with this letter:

Dear Lita,

Thank you for the beautiful playthings you sent my class! […]

The children love the fairy house, silks, and fairies. Some of the children play with the little mushroom stools as if the mushrooms are little beings. They fly, speak, and live with the fairies. Every day we carefully locate every little item at the end of playtime and nestle them safely away until the next day.

Almost everyone still has to travel (or live) through hurricane/flood ravaged areas of New Orleans. The healing process is slow, and most people are still recovering from loss. Your beautiful toys—that feel so good to hold—have brought magic to our classroom. Beauty and magic are healing to us all, and we thank you for these gifts.

Peace,
Heidi Anne Porter

"See the baby fairy! I like the baby."

"My gnome can live in the house, too."

"Look, I'm a dragon!" (wearing the green-blue silk)
